Bathers who were on the morning of this Sunday (6) on a beach on the Tapajós River, in Pará, claim to have been removed from the site by President Lula’s security so that the PT member could stay there.

Videos made by electrical technician Neemias Costa, 42, show the approach of Federal Police agents and the approach of Navy boats, which are escorting the president.

Production assistant Fábio Monteiro, 21, said he was on site and confirmed the information. “The Navy had confirmed that we could go to the beach, but then they expelled us.”

Two other bathers reported that they also went through the same situation. According to housekeeper Adriane do Santos, 30, the boat she was on was approached by the military with a request to withdraw from the space.

“We had already posted our hammocks on the trees when the Navy personnel arrived and said that it was interdicted, that it was for all of us to get out of there”, he says.

Gleide Lucinha Castro, 42, housekeeper, says it was the first time she had been through this situation. She is a resident of Santarém and claims that she has participated in other similar tours on the same beach and there was never a need to remove them.

“We left Araria, went to a nearby beach and there was also a disturbance on this other beach, they didn’t let us stay. The boat went to a more distant location, where we managed to have our leisure”, he says.

Lula has been resting since Friday (4) in Alter do Chão, accompanied by first lady Janja and advisors. He is staying at Casa do Saulo, hotel and restaurant owned by chef Saulo Jennings, who also owns the boat used by the president on weekend trips.

Sought, the Presidency of the Republic did not comment on the case. The Navy said, in a note, that it is investigating and working to clarify the facts.

Lula’s tour of Alter do Chão has been accompanied by Federal Police and Navy agents. There was no change in the president’s rest schedule, despite the release this Friday (4) of farmer Arilson Strapasson, suspected of claiming he would shoot the president during a visit to Santarém (PA).

On Monday (7), Lula will participate in an event in Santarém. Next, she will head to Belém, the state capital, where she will participate in the Amazon Summit.

Lula arrived on Friday (4th) in Alter do Chão. He is staying in one of the ten bungalows at Casa do Saulo, a hotel and restaurant on Carapanari beach.

The accommodation was newly created attached to the restaurant of Saulo Jennings, who coined the expression “tapajonic cuisine”, in reference to the cuisine with fish typical of the region. In addition to the restaurant in Alter do Chão, he has branches in Belém and Rio de Janeiro.

The average daily cost of a bungalow is R$800. The Presidency of the Republic and the hotel did not inform how and if the accommodation was charged.

The ten bungalows are reserved for the presidential delegation. The space reduced activities for tourists this Saturday and Sunday, ending at 4 pm, when the place will once again be exclusive to the president.
