Arena da Amazônia hosted, this Saturday (28), the first match of the 2023 Amazonense Championship, between Nacional and Rio Negro. With support from the Government of Amazonas, through the Amazonas de Alto Rendimento Foundation (Faar), the classic ended 1-1, with a goal by player Léo Aquino, for Nacional and Vitinho scored for Rio Negro.
“We are happy that we started Barezão 2023 with this classic, all stadiums managed by the Government of Amazonas underwent revitalization of the lawns and are prepared for the Amazonian football season. We are dedicating ourselves to the maximum to strengthen professional clubs and we want these teams to reach the elite of Brazilian football”, declared Jorge Oliveira, CEO of Faar.
Nationalist by birth, fan Tammylis Rebouças highlighted her love for the team that has been passed down through generations. “I’ve been coming to the stadium since childhood, my father used to bring me when he was a player and made a lot of history at Nacional. So, I grew up with that and we are passing it on to our daughter, today she is fulfilling a dream by coming to honor Amazonian football ”, she commented.
The quest for the state title began this Saturday and continues until April 15, organized by the Amazonense Football Federation (FAF). The champion and runner-up of the competition guarantee a place in the Copa do Brasil, Série D of the Brazilian Championship and Copa Verde 2024.

Coming from Venezuela, supporter Amanda Rodriguez commented on the emotion of watching the game for the first time at the stadium. “I’m happy, everything was very organized, I was well received and in the next games I’ll invite other friends who live in Manaus to visit the Arena”, she said.

This Sunday (29/01), the Arena da Amazônia also receives Manaus and Parintins FC, at 10 am. On the same day and time, on Sunday, Iranduba will face Princesa at Estádio Ismael Benigno. And, ending the first round, the Amazonas FC and Manauara EC teams will play, at 3:30 pm, at the Carlos Zamith Stadium.
