Barcelona court to hold new hearing on Daniel Alves arrest

In May, the player’s defense filed an appeal with the Court of Barcelona against the investigating judge’s decision to keep him in preventive detention, where he has been since January 20.

The lawyers of the ex-Barcelona winger, Cristóbal Martell and Arnau Xumetra, ask for his provisional release, arguing in this new appeal that it is “unthinkable” that he tries to escapebearing in mind that he has a “life project” in the Spanish city and has already sent his children to school in a center in the Catalan capital.

For the lawyers, “the adventure of escape” by Dani Alves is unthinkable, because it would mean “an unbearable burden for the subject and an unnecessary disrespect for himself and for his family and children” that the player “does not want to cause”.

In this way, Dani Alves’ defense maintains that the risk of escape is “non-existent”.

In addition to denying the risk of fleeing, most of the appeal focuses on questioning the victim’s version of the images captured by the security cameras at the “Sutton” nightclub moments before Alves and the complainant entered the bathroom where the alleged rape took place. occurred.

The defense, which provided the court with a report analyzing the images, claims that this document is of “unquestionable” usefulness.

The third section of the Court of Barcelona will hold a hearing tomorrow at 11:00 am (local time) to discuss the preventive detention of Dani Alves after the appeal presented by his defense asking for his freedom, which is contested by both the Public Ministry and the young woman’s defence.

The hearing will be held behind closed doors and without the presence of the Brazilian, neither physically nor virtually, so that only the Public Ministry and the legal teams of the parties will participate.
