Arlindo Cruz’s wife, Babi Cruz reappeared on social media this Friday, the 10th, two weeks after publicly assuming her relationship with André Caetano, owner of a pizzeria in Rocinha, in the South Zone of Rio.

She took the sambista to enjoy a sunny morning on a beach in the West Zone of Rio, close to where they live. Babi shared records with the singer in the wheelchair “taking a little sun”. “Let’s live, the sun always comes back. Happiness is a state of mind”, she wrote in the captions of the publications.

Arlindo’s wife assumed in February that she is dating. Last week, she released a statement rebutting the criticism she has been receiving for taking on a new relationship while the singer is debilitated, in a wheelchair, unable to walk or speak, due to the consequences of a Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) that he suffered in 2017.

“First of all, everyone who knows me knows all the efforts that I never measured, since when the tragedy happened in my family, with Arlindo’s illness. From that moment on, I strengthened myself to live 24 hours in total dedication to this wonderful person, who helped me build everything I have most valuable, I say: Arlindo Neto and Flora Cruz”, she says, referring to the couple’s two children.

Babi, 61 years old, explains that her husband’s current condition is irreversible and that before knowing this it never crossed her mind to get involved with another man.

“While I had hope for the reversal of Arlindo’s clinical and neurological condition, for some possible improvement and recovery so that I could have any relationship with my husband, it never crossed my mind to have another man in my life. However, from the moment it became clear that we would never again have even the slightest relationship between man and woman, this became a possibility, thinking about the fact that I was a woman full of life, however distant that could be in my thoughts at a given moment, but always respecting, until the present day, my marriage bond. As a public figure and linked to politics, I can never stop expressing my opinion on such a serious matter. With regret, I say that my delay in clarifying the facts to everyone was due to my mental health being shaken after some infamous and hateful comments directed at me and mine“.

She ends the text by reaffirming that her priority is to take care of Arlindo: “(…) I keep saying that our Arlindo will continue to be taken care of by me with all the love, affection, dedication and respect he deserves. At the age of 64, singer Arlindo Cruz has been living in a delicate state for the last few years after suffering a stroke (Cerebral Vascular Accident). The case happened in 2017, but the sequels remain. Since then, the sambista has undergone 17 surgeries.

Currently, Arlindo is undergoing treatment at home, where he has the help of a medical team and his family. Despite not speaking or even walking, the singer manages to sketch reactions when he listens to music and watches his favorite movies.
