Athletico concede goals until the 15th minute in the last five games

Athletico has suffered in the first minutes of their games. Hurricane conceded goals until the 15th minute of the last five matches and, with that, had to chase the result.

The inattention at the beginning happened against Fluminense (Brasileirão), CRB (Copa do Brasil), Atlético-MG (Brasileirão), Libertad (Libertadores) and Flamengo (Brasileirão). Of these, the team managed to turn around in three opportunities: CRB, Libertad and Flamengo. In the whole season, there have been six comebacks so far.

Despite the resilience in managing to reverse scores, the sequence shows a negative pattern for the team. Leaving behind right at the beginning breaks strategies, makes a team have to leave for the game and run more. And, of course, the chances of defeat increase, as happened against Flu and Galo, in which the team did not have the strength to turn around.

“I don’t worry about it. I have to praise [o time], because we started losing and turned around. Of course, we don’t let them score goals to chase the scoreboard, it just happens. Today is with us. Tomorrow it could be with another team”, said Paulo Turra after the victory over Flamengo.

“We even leave behind, we keep the balance. We trust our model, which is determined for each game. And we are calm, we don’t go out throwing ourselves all forward. It is a reason for satisfaction, because the team has balance to equalize and then turn,” he added.

Coach Paulo Turra, who has been questioned a lot by the fans, can even defend his starting lineups and say he doesn’t worry about going behind on the scoreboard. However, against CRB, he had to undo the scheme with three defensive midfielders in the final stretch of the first half, after the Alagoan team had the second goal annulled.

Against Libertad, he used the lineup requested by the fans with the offensive quartet Vitor Bueno, Terans, Pablo and Vitor, but, again, it was a formation that did not work out. At halftime, he took out Vitor Bueno and Pablo for Thiago Andrade and Rômulo, who commanded the comeback in Paraguay.

The Athletico squad is full of alternatives and the ideal formation needs to be evaluated for each opponent. And, so far, it’s Hurricane’s individualities that have been paramount in these scoreboard reversals.

Against Internacional, the coach will have the return of Alex Santana, who was suspended against Flamengo, but striker Vitor Roque is doubtful. The young man suffered a blow to his thigh in front of the team from Rio de Janeiro and left the field in a lot of pain. The duel against Colorado will take place this Wednesday (10), at 7 pm, in Beira-Rio, and is valid for the fifth round of the Brasileirão.
