Athletico 100 years: Pablo, “our people”

I saw the first goal Pablo with the Athletico shirt. Header, at the Ecoestádio, the city’s goal, in 2011. Last year, I saw him celebrate his 100th goal. In Paranaguá, one of the three marked against the same Rio Branco, old from wars.

The world has changed several times between one game and another, but some things never seem to change: us in the stands and Pablo in the CAP attack. I mean, not always.

Despite helping a lot in the defensive aerial ball, Pablo only played as a defender, nor as a goalkeeper. After his debut, he was used on the wing by the folkloric Juan Ramón Carrasco. At other times, he was a midfielder and steering wheel. Currently he is one of the alternatives to be the man in “zone 14”. He’s going to do it well, as he’s already been to all the zones. From the field, of course, and he always manages well.

This is a purebred “Caju piá”, coming from the Londrina region like many of our great revelations. When he was 21, he was loaned out for trials at Real Madrid B and spent half a season there.

His time at Spain Madrid is mocked by some, because in football, doing an internship at the biggest organization in the world doesn’t count points. Either you are the GOAT or you are a loser. He didn’t stay there, but it’s clear that he was important for his development as a player (and took some good photos), what more can you ask for?

Very young, Pablo was involved in the relegation campaign in 2011. Maduro and wearing the number 5 shirt, he was the goalscorer of the year in 2018 and the decisive scorer in the campaign for our first continental title. He scored goals in the two South American finals and in other important games. He celebrated with the fans at McDonald’s. Commitment, goals and commitment to the red and black shirt have never been lacking, even so part of the fans dispute this.

For my part, I think that any mistakes on or off the field humanize him. They make him our people. My guess is that Pablo Felipe Teixeira, a historic Furacão player, will finish his centenary season between Guará It is Paul Rink.
