The Atacadão chain, a brand of the Carrefour Group, decided to stop the movement of inspectors in the aisles of its stores after being accused of racism.
According to the company, the inspectors will be positioned at fixed and pre-determined points, in front of the cashier or in the room with closed circuit television.
Atacadão says that the function of professionals is “to be a point of support for customers or to act in urgent cases (customers feeling sick and accidents, for example)”.
According to the company, the decision was taken after two cases were registered in São Paulo and Curitiba.
