At the UN, Ammon discusses partnership to combat the exploitation of minors in the interior of AM

Vienna (AT) – On an official mission for the Chamber of Deputies, federal deputy Amom Mandel (Cidadania-AM) was at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN), in Vienna, Austria, this Wednesday (03), to discuss initiatives and agreements to the fight against human trafficking and labor exploitation in municipalities in the interior of the Amazon. The official mission did not generate additional costs for the Legislative House.

The parliamentarian met with those responsible for managing the “Tapajós Project”, operating in Pará, which works to combat human trafficking and the exploitation of labor in gold mining activities in the Tapajós River basin. Amom presented data on the exploitation of people, including minors, in municipalities located in the border regions of the Amazon.

“I presented some data on the exploitation of minors in the interior of Amazonas, especially in the border municipalities, which are the ones I visited when I participated in the Ministry of Defense mission to inspect the special border platoons. The UN is committed to following up on this issue and helping to train and instruct professionals in the area in Amazonas to deal with this type of problem,” he declared.

According to Amom, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also informed about the agenda to monitor the situation. In addition to the folder, the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Commission, in addition to authorities from foreign countries, will participate in the process of monitoring activities in the region.

The main objective of the visit to the European country was the official meeting of the World Energy Council (WEC), also this Wednesday, to discuss measures and alternative energy matrices with low environmental impact that can be applied in Brazil.

The agenda also included a visit to the Austrian company DAS Energy Ltd., when Amom met with the CEO, Roman Dalecky, to learn about the production processes and technology of flexible solar panels, an initiative that can be applied in communities that live in on the banks of rivers in the Amazon. “This could, in the future, become a partnership to supply electricity with floating panels in riverside communities”, he explained.

In the Austrian capital, the parliamentarian also participated in official agendas with the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, and the Secretary of State for the Environment, Eduardo Taveira, with the Minister of the Environment of Austria, Leonore Gewessler, and with the secretary of the Department on Climate, Environment and Democracy, Jurgen Czernohorsky. The meeting to discuss the difficulties in combating deforestation in the Amazon and the projects to be developed, resulted in an international agreement with the State Government. “We hope to attract good investments to Amazonas and help generate jobs and income, as well as encourage the adoption of Brazilian technology by European countries”, said the parliamentarian.
