Astronaut Marcos Pontes offers a tour of the wreck of the Titanic, but withdraws the offer from the air – 06/21/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The tourism agency of Senator Astronauta Marcos Pontes (PL-SP), former Minister of Science and Technology during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), offers submersible tours to the wreckage of the Titanic.

The option, however, was removed from the company’s website. The tour still appears in the “destinations” section, but when clicked, the page gives an error and does not load.

Last Sunday (18), a tourist submarine disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean, near Newfoundland, Canada. Photos used in promotional material include images of the missing Titan device from OceanGate Expeditions.

Sought by the column via his press office, the senator did not answer whether the option was withdrawn after the repercussions of the case.

There is also a Caribbean submersible tour which is still available for consultation. The Marcos Pontes Tourism de Aventura Agency defines itself before the Board of Trade of the State of São Paulo as a travel company, organization of fairs, congresses, exhibitions and parties.

The company also offers packages for adventures such as flights in combat fighters, rides in armored vehicles and war tanks and basic cosmonaut training.

As the Panel showed, in February of this year Marcos Pontes appointed his partner, Christiane Gonçalves Corrêa, as head of his office, with a gross salary of R$ 22,943.

They share the command of Marcos Pontes Tourism de Aventura Agency.
