The Army and the Secretariat of Public Security of the Federal District have been monitoring the mobilization of Bolsonaristas who plan to hold protests against President Lula (PT) during the civic-military parade on Independence Day, on September 7.

The military intelligence assessment is that supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) have been divided between two groups: one that supports the trip to the parade, in Brasília, to boo Lula and the Armed Forces, and another that considers it more appropriate empty the event, as a message that the petista does not have popular support as his predecessor had.

According to reports by military personnel and members of the Security Sheetno major leader of Bolsonarism has manifested itself publicly or in message groups monitored in favor of the protest against the PT.

The riot risk, according to the momentum analysis, is considered low.

Monitoring is a practice of security forces on the eve of major events. The work, however, was intensified after the attacks on the seats of the Powers and the accusations that the organs were slow to realize the seriousness of the anti-democratic acts that formed in the days that preceded the 8th of January.

The manifestations of message groups and social networks identified by the military show that Bolsonaristas are not only dissatisfied with Lula. In the messages, supporters of the former president say that the Armed Forces deserve to “feel the contempt” during the parades.

“On this 7th of September, true patriots should go wearing black clothes (mourning) and turn their backs at the troop parade. “, said a bolsonarista in a publication on social networks.

The content of the message is the same as that of Leandro Ruschel, a Bolsonarist influencer. “An idea for the 7th of September: everyone on the street, IN BLACK!”, He wrote, in another monitored publication.

On the other hand, a video that circulates in Bolsonarist message groups argues that the best protest for Independence Day is to empty the act on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, to compare the public of 2023 with those of the Bolsonaro administration.

“September 7th, don’t leave your house. Remember the pandemic, stay at home? Now it’s our turn. On September 7th, stay home. We patriots don’t have a short memory and our concept of who we are defends, today, has changed. Just like September 7, 2022 they will never be able to do it. This is our moment “, says the video.

Another Bolsonarist stated that the demonstration needs to take place on September 7th spontaneously, without the organization of political leaders.

The DF Public Security Secretariat is in the final phase of defining security planning for the parade. The rules discussed involve access control to the Esplanade, with railings at the side entrances and search lines for people entering the space.

The expected audience is between 30,000 and 40,000 people – a number lower than the 100,000 that were expected in 2022, when the Bicentennial of Independence was celebrated.

The structures for the stage and the bleachers have already been assembled by a company contracted by the federal government. They occupy half of the road that goes up to Esplanada dos Ministérios. The installations cost R$ 3 million.

The Planalto Military Command, responsible for organizing the parade, plans to hold two rehearsals before the event. The first is scheduled for September 2nd and the second for the 6th.

When contacted, the Army stated that only Secom (Secretary of Communication) can provide details about the Independence Day parade. Paulo Pimenta’s portfolio, however, did not respond to the report’s questions.

The Lula government intends to change the profile of the civic-military parade on September 7th. The date was used by Bolsonaro to attack ministers of the Federal Supreme Court in 2021 and as a rally in 2022.

The removal of the trucks was only possible after hours of negotiations, with pressure from STF ministers against Governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB).

The following year, Bolsonaro even ordered the Army to authorize the entry of trucks on the Esplanada on the eve of Independence Day. The Force even registered around 60 cars to park vehicles meters from the STF.
