Armed men escaping from a Military Police operation invaded this Wednesday (5) a school in the Nova Holanda community, in Complexo da Maré, in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro. This morning, the PM launched an operation against targets from other states that would be hiding in the region. After the school was invaded, 16 suspects involved in drug trafficking surrendered and were detained by the Military Police.

The Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) reported that the group invaded the Integrated Public Education Center (Ciep) Elis Regina around 6:30 am, when there were still no students in the unit, reported the g1 portal. Corporation specialists negotiated the surrender and no one was injured in the action.

According to the PM, three rifles, four pistols, nine grenades, five radio communicators and about three kilos of drugs were seized. According to the Municipal Secretary of Education, classes were suspended in 21 municipal schools in Complexo da Maré, affecting 7,491 students.
