The Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to suspend the Federal Police investigation against allies of the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), including his former advisor, Luciano Cavalcante. The information was provided by columnist Aguirre Talento, from UOL.
According to the PGR, the investigation underway in the first instance of Federal Justice in Alagoas should have been sent to the STF because it detected suspicions of the involvement of a federal deputy, Gilvan Máximo (Republicanos-DF). Aras argued that the due diligence reports on Gilvan were added to the file in February of this year.
The PGR’s request responds to an action by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies, which requested action on the matter. Aras presented his statement to the STF on Tuesday and asked for the entire investigation to be stopped until the Supreme Court judges the competence.
This Thursday (15), Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, rapporteur for the request at the STF, requested that the 2nd Federal Court of Maceió, responsible for the case at first instance, present clarifications within 48 hours. After receiving the response, Barroso will decide on the merits of the request.
