Momoa reflects his origins in the character and highlights the importance of recording in Hawaii, where he was born. “It was sensational filming in Hawaii, taking the entire team there, recording in the jungle. It was really special. It was like a dream come true”, reflects the actor. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is physically different from the character in the original comics: “It was the director’s idea. He wanted an Aquaman with characteristics of the Polynesian people. And I’m Polynesian. So, it made a lot of sense to have someone with my origins”, explains. A similarity between the actor and the character is the passion for the oceans, in addition to concern for the environment. Momoa is a committed activist—that’s one of the film’s messages: “We need to take care of each other and together take better care of this planet,” he says. When asked if Aquaman also protects Brazilian waters, Momoa responds with humor: “I’ll know if you need help. Aquaman talks to the fish and the information will come.
