The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) revoked the two ordinances edited during the pandemic with sanitary measures for the entry of foreigners into the country. With the revocation, Brazilians or foreigners entering Brazil no longer need to present proof of vaccination or negative test for covid-19.

According to Anvisa, the end of the requirements was motivated by the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) to decree the end of the state of Public Health Emergency of International Importance, which had been in force since March 2020.

The agency forwarded the guidelines to airlines, border posts and operators of ports and airports in a technical instruction published on May 23.

“This scenario [fim do estado internacional de emergência] made it possible to determine that covid-19 is now an established and continuous health problem (…) testing, as well as the implementation by administrators of passenger terminals and operators of means of transport of prevention and mitigation measures [redução] of the disease”, informed the technical note.
