The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) approved this Tuesday (22) the opening of a public consultation to discuss the reduction of up to 36.9% in the reference values of the tariff flags. Since April 2022, the green tariff flag has been in force, with no additional cost on the electricity bill.
“The proposal is to reduce the yellow flag by almost 37%, from the current R$ 29.89/MWh to R$ 18.85/MWh. As for the red flag, level 1, the proposal is to reduce from R$ 65.00/MWh to R$ 44.64/MWh (a drop of 31%) and, level 2, from R$ 97.95/MWh to R$ 78.77/MWh (reduction of almost 20%)”, informed the agency, in a note.
Interested parties can send contributions from Wednesday (23) to October 6, to the email [email protected]. Currently, the expectation is that the green flag, with favorable energy supply conditions, will remain that way until the end of the year.
The proposed reduction was made possible by the good levels of the hydroelectric reservoirs, the greater supply of renewable energy and the drop, compared to last year, in the international price of fossil fuels. According to Aneel, the measure will also “have a favorable impact on ordinary tariff adjustments, with the prospect of a drop in components linked to the operation of the National Interconnected System (SIN)”.
The original title of this text mentioned a reduction of up to 37% in the electricity bill. In fact, what is right is a reduction of up to 37% in the values of tariff flags, which are just one of the components of the light bill.
