The defense of former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District Anderson Torres asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) this Monday (6) to revoke his preventive detention. He was arrested after the acts of vandalism on January 8. The lawyers argue that Torres was not responsible for the security breaches and that “the military of the Institutional Security Office (GSI) did not act to prevent the acts”.

In addition, the lawyers allege that the demobilization of the camp in front of the Army HQ, in Brasília. “The demobilization of the camp by the PMDF was prevented by General Júlio César de Arruda, one of the facts that led to his removal on January 21”, they stated.

The petition was forwarded to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who ordered the preventive detention of the former secretary. The defense states that “the development of the investigations clearly demonstrated the total absence of minimal evidence that would allow associating the Claimant with [Torres] to the criminal facts in question, so that, today, there are no factual circumstances that authorize the continuation of the precautionary constraint on his freedom”.

Last Friday (3), Moraes revoked the preventive detention of the former general commander of the Military Police of the Federal District, Colonel Fábio Augusto Vieira. On the same day, Torres testified for about 10 hours to the Federal Police.
