Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) has instituted a process to investigate Oi’s noncompliance with obligations, which could lead to a potential cancellation of the company’s fixed telephony concession, the autarchy told Reuters on Wednesday (17).

Oi is in a new judicial recovery process, accepted by the Justice in March of this year.

The company said in a statement that it understands that “speculations regarding actions by the granting authority are due to the fiduciary duty of the agency to monitor the operations of the concessionaires”, adding that, in its view, there is “no reason for considerations beyond this monitoring until the time”.

Oi also said that it filed claims of unsustainability and economic and financial imbalance of the fixed concession, “which necessarily need to be addressed.”

The opening of the process was reported earlier this Wednesday by the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo.

Oi announced the end of its first judicial recovery in December, after the sale of its mobile telephony unit to rivals Claro, Telefônica Brasil and TIM

The company stated that the court-supervised reorganization process does not have an impact on its operations and services provided to customers, and on sales, installations, field operations and service activities.
