Manaus (AM) – Fulfilling the steps to take office as a federal deputy, councilor Amom Mandel (Cidadania-AM) announced in a press conference, this Thursday (26), his resignation from the position of councilor.

The waiver document cites Art. 52, item II, item “d” of the Organic Law of the Municipality of Manaus, which prohibits the councilor from holding more than one public office or elective mandate, that is, the parliamentarian would be prevented from assuming federal office if he did not resign. Amom takes office as a federal deputy on February 1st, in a ceremony at the Chamber of Deputies.

On the occasion, the parliamentarian also presented a report in the form of a magazine with more than 20 pages, in digital and printed format, on actions related to the mandate, dossiers and social projects, which can be accessed through the link:

Two actions were announced by Amom for the coming weeks: the launch of the Mobile Cabinet and the Buracômetro application in its initial phase. According to Amom, by the end of March, the Mobile Cabinet will be officially launched, a van that will travel through the communities of Amazonas promoting direct contact between the population and the parliamentarian. The definitive version of the Buracômetro application is being developed, so that the population can denounce the lack of asphalt on the streets.

“We specify in the rendering of accounts the main reports, which we announce in the form of dossiers, the applications we are developing, and all the information related to the mandate. I saved more than BRL 600,000 by giving up ‘Cotão’ and I was the most productive councilor of the Manaus City Council, proportionally, to the time in office. This is the result of teamwork and we will continue to fulfill our purpose”,

declared Amun Mandel.

Accountability

Throughout his term as councilor of Manaus, Amom Mandel stood out for his fight against the misuse of public money and in favor of agendas of interest to the population. In these two years of office, 60 bills were filed aimed at Health, Public Safety, Education and, above all, transparency in public services.

During the peak of cases of Covid-19 in the state, in January 2021, Amom was responsible for the action filed against the National Institute of Studies and Research (Inep) that prevented the National High School Examination (Enem) from being carried out in Amazonas and denounced the crisis involving undue vaccine applications in people who would not be in the priority group. Still in relation to the pandemic, the parliamentarian proposed that whoever held parties during the pandemic should be punished with a fine.

The first PL filed by Amom was also the only one approved by the Manaus City Council. It originated Ordinary Law No. 2796 of October 13, 2021, which created the Virtual Public Library of the Municipality of Manaus, called Francisco Soares Calheiros. Also at the beginning of his term, Amom fought to prevent the 40% readjustment of the Urban Property and Territorial Tax (IPTU), generating great repercussions and resulting in the suspension of the increase.

Elected Ombudsman of the Board of Directors of the Manaus City Council, the parliamentarian made possible a technical cooperation agreement with the Court of Auditors of the State of Amazonas (TCE -AM), to modernize and bring the ombudsman of the Chamber closer to the manauara citizen. The agreement generated results: the Ombudsman’s service rate increased by around 50%.

During this period, the parliamentarian promoted other agendas, such as the fight to suspend millionaire expenses made by the Manaus City Council with the “Selfie Kit”, valued at more than R$ 600 thousand, in addition to the expected expense with renting 41 pickups. Amom also joined the Justice of Amazonas against the “puxadinho” of the Chamber, an annex building that would be built with the initial cost of R$ 32 million.

In another lawsuit, the parliamentarian tried to revoke the 83% increase in the Quota for the Exercise of Parliamentary Activity (Ceap), the popular “Cotão”. The increase was proposed and voted on as a matter of urgency, in the last plenary session of 2021. As a result, the value went from R$ 18 thousand to R$ 33 thousand reais. The action temporarily suspended the readjustment, but the last decision was favorable to the increase.

During this period, the parliamentarian produced four reports in the form of dossiers with complaints of irregularities in Manaus, on infrastructure in municipal schools and day care centers, the public transport system in Manaus, diversion of items from basic food baskets and the distribution of expired food in municipal schools .
