This Friday (30), Novo em Folha publishes the new episode of the podcast Americas. This is a news, interview and analysis program on political and social events in the region, carried out by journalists Sylvia Colombo, columnist for Sheetand Sebastián Fest, correspondent in Buenos Aires for the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo”.
The podcast, broadcast in Spanish, is a good opportunity for journalists and others interested in better understanding the region and learning more about the language spoken in almost all of Latin America, with Brazil as one of the exceptions.
In this episode, the main theme is the 50th anniversary of the coup d’état in Uruguay. We analyze the celebration that was shared by the four living presidents, and of different ideological shades, the current one, Luis Lacalle Pou, his father, Luis Alberto Lacalle Herrera, president in the 1990s, Julio María Sanguinetti and José “Pepe” Mujica, in addition to the long vigil for the relatives of the disappeared. Uruguayans today ask themselves, isn’t it time to overthrow the amnesty laws and advance the investigations?
We also analyze, in Argentina, the closing of the lists of candidates who will contest the primaries, on August 13th, and we make a balance of the decisions of the political forces.
Finally, Colombo and Fest debate another provocation by the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, to journalists, who he challenges to walk around the country so that they understand why he is so beloved.
