Americanas meet with trade unionists – 01/24/2023 – Panel SA

After the union leaders’ meeting with Americanas this Tuesday (24th), the company did not rule out layoffs. In a note, the company states that “it is common for there to be restructuring” and says that it is committed to keeping workers and other publics informed.

According to Ricardo Patah, president of the union central UGT (General Union of Workers), the plan to hold a demonstration next week is maintained.

“We must do a big act in Rio to put pressure on. We need to humanize the more than 40,000 workers and their families, because, in addition to the banks and shareholders that they talk about so much, they are the ones most affected”, says Patah.

Deputy Luiz Carlos Motta, president of the CNTC (confederation of trade workers), says he will propose a bill that values ​​union action in judicial reorganizations and bankruptcies, in addition to signing a CPI request for the Americanas case and suggesting to the government group creation to track the issue.
