The launch of the Young Athletes Project from Santa Etelvina took place this week

Another social project supported by state deputy Alessandra Campêlo (PSC) is running in Amazonas. This time it’s Jovem Atletas, which offers free jiu-jitsu practice to 80 children and teenagers in the Santa Etelvina neighborhood, North Zone of Manaus.

The initiative has resources from parliamentary amendment in the amount of R$ 200,000 allocated by the deputy. The project is coordinated by the Instituto Jovens do Futuro and the transfer was made by the Amazonas de Alto Rendimento Foundation (Faar), which was transformed into the Sports and Leisure Secretariat (Sedel) in the last administrative reform of the State Government.

“I believe in and invest in sport, especially in the base, in training, in encouraging children and adolescents. This is one of my ways of collaborating with the future of our country, and I am very proud of this little ant work. Sport is an instrument of social transformation, life changing and also helps in physical and mental health, in the fight against idleness and violence, in addition to improving self-esteem”,

emphasized the deputy.

According to the president of Instituto Jovens do Futuro, Helen Andrade, the project’s students, who are boys and girls from the community between the ages of 8 and 18 and from public schools, will have access to free jiu-jitsu classes after school hours. In addition, they will receive kimonos, shirts and backpacks. The investment also includes the payment of the project team.

The launch of the Young Athletes Project from Santa Etelvina took place this week, with the presence of athletes and their families. The community embraced the idea, because it impacts directly on homes. Housewife Solange Tomás, mother of student Yasmin Vitória, thanked Congresswoman Alessandra for supporting the cause of sport.

“My daughter is starting her career in jiu-jitsu and I can only thank Congresswoman Alessandra Campelo for encouraging young people here in Santa Etelvina and the North Zone”,

said Solange.

Councilor Allan Campelo (PSC), who is a jiu-jitsu black belt trained at Nova União, said he was moved because he was an athlete and also went through difficulties at the beginning of his career in the modality. Today, he is one of the main supporters of the sport in Manaus City Hall.

“I know what it’s like to want to train and many times not having a kimono or not being able to pay for a gym membership. This project supported by Congresswoman Alessandra is fundamental because it helps children and families. Jiu-jitsu and sport transform children’s lives and prevent the use of alcohol and other drugs,” observed Allan.
