Amazonas Sustainable Half Marathon will have cash prizes and scholarships

In addition to promoting the practice of sport, the half marathon seeks to raise awareness about sustainability and environmental preservation.

Scheduled for the next 21st, the 4th edition of the Amazonas Sustainable Half Marathon is full of news, starting with the prize, which now also has a cash part. As in previous editions, the race will start at the Jornalista Phellippe Daou bridge, in the West Zone of Manaus, with departures starting at 5:30 am.
In all, more than 2,000 participants will compete in the 6 km, 10 km and 21 km modalities. In addition to medals and trophies, the winners of the ‘general public’ category will receive from R$ 100 to R$ 1,000, depending on the position and distance covered. In addition, they will be entitled to a scholarship with 50% discount at the Technical Education Center (Centec), co-organizer of the event together with the Institute of Education, Culture, Research and Sustainability of the Amazon (Iepes).
“We have participants from Manaus, from municipalities in the metropolitan region – such as Presidente Figueiredo, Manacapuru and Rio Preto da Eva; from other states, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Pará and Brasília, and even from other countries, such as the United States”, comments the general director of Centec, Driele Cazumba.
In addition to amateur and professional athletes, the Amazonas Sustainable Half Marathon has three special categories, which are part of the event’s social inclusion proposal: the visually impaired, wheelchair users and people over 60 years old, who compete in the race in different modalities. They compete for medals and 30% scholarships at Centec for the first places in each of the three groups.
“We already have confirmation of 42 PCD athletes from the Jungler Runners group. It is important to emphasize that they are exempt from the registration fee, a way to encourage greater participation of this public. We will also have 45 free places for blood donors in partnership with the Associação de Corredores de Rua do Amazonas”, says Driele.
Online registration for the Sustainable Half Marathon closes on May 14, but face-to-face registration remains open at Centec’s headquarters, located at Avenida Djalma Batista, 646, São Geraldo neighborhood. The school phone number is (92) 99223-1580.

Kits and Talk Show
The traditional marathon kits can be picked up between the 18th and 19th of this month, from 10 am to 7 pm, at Centec headquarters. The kit for participants of the 6 km, 10 km and 21 km routes includes bib number, traditional polyamide T-shirt, squeeze, visor, bag, bib number, medal and chip.
On the first day the kits are distributed, Centec will offer a talk show in its auditorium with personal trainer and marathon runner Hendrik Passos. Specialist in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology and Running, he will give tips on how to prepare for the marathon. For those unable to participate in person, the event will be broadcast live on the race’s Instagram (@meiamaratonasustentavelam).

Sustainability
In addition to promoting the practice of sport, the Sustainable Half Marathon of Amazonas has as one of its premises – symbolized in the name of the event – ​​awareness of sustainability and preservation of the environment. Therefore, as in the third edition, all waste generated in the area of ​​this fourth race will be cataloged for environmentally correct disposal. The work will be done in partnership with Residuum, a startup focused on post-consumer product lifecycle management. In addition, there will be garbage bags in the event’s circulation areas, large garbage cans along the race course and teams responsible for collecting waste.
“We will also donate 1,000 tree seedlings to the participants, as a way of remembering the importance of caring for the environment. Distribution is a partnership with the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (Semmas)”, says Driele.

In addition to the partnership between Centec and Iepes in organizing the event, the Sustainable Half Marathon of Amazonas is sponsored by Alteza and ProdImagem.
