Amazonas FC beats Nacional and advances to the final of the first round of Barezão

Manaus (AM) – Amazonas FC beat Nacional 2-1 in the first semi-final of the first round of the 2024 Amazonense Championship and guaranteed a place in the final of the competition. The game was held on Friday night (16), at Arena da Amazônia, and had goals from Sassá and Diego Torres for Onça-pintada, while Raimundinho scored for Leão da Vila Municipal.

With Amazonas being more dangerous and Nacional having difficulty coming from behind, the opening minutes of the match featured few clear scoring chances. Until, in the 31st minute, Fabiano threw the ball on the left to William Barbio, who headed straight into the area, the ball was live and Patric completed it for the goal, but João Vitor made the save and subsequently, Nacional’s defense pulled away.

And, in the 42nd minute, the Jaguar, having surrounded the blue area so much, opened the scoring with Sassá. Rafael Tavares played Patric on the right, the full-back crossed first for the championship’s top scorer to complete the ball into the back of the goal.

After the break, Amazonas almost increased their lead five minutes into the game. Renan crossed from the left, Rafael Tavares headed it and João Vitor went to the corner to get it, on the rebound, Fellipe Bastos tried to roll into the middle, but the ball was deflected by the defense and went out with great danger.

After six minutes, Rafael Tavares advanced quickly through the middle and was run over by Ivanzinho and the referee awarded a penalty. After a few minutes of stoppage, at 12, Diego Torres took the penalty and sent it into João Vitor’s left corner to put the score 2-0.

Needing two goals to take the decision to penalties, Naça reduced the deficit in the 30th minute. Rogerinho took a corner kick at the first post and Raimundinho deflected it with his heel to score a beautiful goal at the Arena da Amazônia. In the final minutes, Leão even exerted some pressure, but did not reach the equalizer.

Caboco do Jogo

At the end of the duel, defender Fabiano, from Amazonas, was elected Caboco do Jogo, an award offered by the Amazon Football Federation (FAF) to the best player of the match, through votes from three press professionals present at the match.

With the victory, Amazonas is the first classified for the final of the first round of Barezão 2024 and awaits the winner of RPE Parintins and São Raimundo, who face each other this Saturday (17th), at 8pm, at the Francisco Garcia Stadium, in Rio Preto from Eva.

In turn, Nacional returns to the field in March, to compete in the second round. On the 2nd, Leão debuts against Amazonas itself, at 3:30 pm, at the Carlos Zamith Stadium.
