A Amapá Football Federationl launched this Monday (29) a booklet to combat racism in the fields of Amapá. The initiative is based on information provided by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and materials replicated by other federations in Brazil. The file is also available for download on the FAF social networks.
The idea is that the material reaches those involved in competitions in Amapá, such as athletes, members of technical committees, directors, the press and fans. The booklet brings clear information about laws and rights regarding cases of racism, in addition to explanations about attitudes that configure crime in stadiums.
“May the message of social justice and respect be popularly reinforced with this initiative and be always alive in our conscience, not only as proud Amapá people with Afro-descendant roots, but as citizens. Our thanks to the CBF for providing material for this booklet and to the other football federations, such as São Paulo and Alagoas, who are our sisters in the construction of football based on equity”highlighted Netto Goes, president of FAF.
All against racism
The agenda of racism in football has recently gained great repercussions with the discriminatory acts practiced against the Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior, who plays for Real Madrid, in Spain.
The striker himself, personalities from inside and outside the pitch, as well as the Brazilian government and other countries demonstrated against racism. In Amapá, clubs, entity, political authorities and the FAF also took a stand.
This movement motivated the Amapá Professional Athlete Guarantee Association (AGAP), led by coach Vitor Jaime, to coordinate a public act against racism. The movement took place last Thursday (25), during a match between Independente and São Paulo/AP for Amapazão 2023. The act was supported by the FAF and the Association of Former Players of Amapá (Excrete).
