Amapaense breaks two records of the Americas during the Paralympic Track and Field Circuit – News of Brazil

This weekend, the Loterias Caixa Athletics Paralympic Circuit took place at the Paralympic Training Center, in São Paulo, and the amapaense Wanna Brito was participating in the competition and broke the Americas record in the club and weight throw. The athlete competes in the F32 class (for athletes with severe cerebral palsy).
In shot put, Wanna reached 6.98m and dropped a mark that reigned for 14 years. The previous record belonged to Argentina Marilu Romina Fernandez, who threw 5.14m in June 2009 in a competition held in Paris, France.
Already at the club, she threw 22.01m and surpassed the mark of the Mexican Shantal Cobos Soltero, who had launched 21.05m in July 2022, in Mexico.
“I’m very happy. I’m getting back to my best form after a couple of races that weren’t so good. The Americas record is a very big responsibility. But I want more. I want to dream big and always achieve more. I will strive for it.” celebrated the athlete.
In case of Wanna, it would be necessary to reach the mark of 7.31m in the shot put and 26.89m in the club, reaching the A index and guaranteeing a place in the Worlds. Obtaining the index, however, is not the only way to get a call-up for the World Cup in France. The gold medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games (and who are physically fit during the competition period) will be part of the Brazilian athletics delegation, in addition to the athletes obtaining the A index.
Wanna is currently ranked 1st in the world in the shot put and 2nd in the club throw in her class. The call will be announced by the CPB in the coming weeks.
