This Sunday (2) ended the Brazilian Regional Judo Championship I. The state of Amapá, which hosted the sporting event, won the unprecedented title of champion. In all, 179 people from Amapá participated in the competition that took place at the Poliesportivo Gymnasium of the Federal Institute of Amapá (Ifap).
“This is an important moment for our athletes. It is a pleasure to be part of the history and trajectory of each one. We took first place for women, second place for men and first place overall.” celebrated the coordinator of Comel, Bruno Church.
The women’s team from Amapá took first place, guaranteeing 56 medals. The male, in second place with 42 medals. There were 27 golds, 26 silvers and 46 bronzes.
More than 300 athletes came from abroad to participate in the competition. The event had the special participation of the 1st World Judo Champion and 1st two-time champion in Latin America, John Derly. “This is a very important region and the level of competition was very high. I believe it was worth the effort of each one”said the former fighter.
Effort was one of the most spoken words by the medalists. Kauã dos Santos, A 13-year-old athlete from Amapa, highlighted the importance of perseverance in his life.
“Joy describes today. This is my first championship and I’m already taking home a gold medal. I am grateful for the discipline I conquered in the social project that I am part of. Without determination, dedication and abdication, I would not have come this far”he reported excitedly.
The amapaense fighter, Fabricia Costa, aged 16, also took home a gold medal. “What an honor to stand on this podium, win in my state and win a gold medal. My goal is to win more often and be a great champion.”he said smiling.
Maycon Douglas, 14 years old, came from Piauí, the young athlete has already participated in 7 competitions, but says that the emotion is always different. “I did my best as I always do. Each fight is an evolution and we improve. My joy and satisfaction is on top of the mat. I will be Olympic champion”said the athlete.
Celina Benke, 15 years old, she is also an athlete from Piauí, for her the mat is more than a competitive sport. “Judo is my life. I love what I do and every day I practice to always give the best of myself in fights”he stated.
Brazilian Regional Judo Championship I
Competition started on Saturday (01) and ended on Sunday (02). The second phase is the Brasileirão, which brings together all states again. In total, 547 athletes participated in the championship. This is the second year that the event takes place in the capital and the first time that it receives support from the City of Macapá, through the Municipal Coordination of Sports and Leisure (Comel).
“This success is the result of the support of the municipal administration, which believes in sports and judo from Amapá. Our retribution was winning the title in that event. We took the opportunity to present the mayor of the capital with the delivery of a symbolic plaque that represents the feeling of gratitude of our sportsmen”thanked the president of the Amapaense Judo Federation, Adriano Lins.
