Amapá Radiotherapy Center service order launched – News of Brazil
[ad_1]
The governor Clecio Luis signed this Saturday, the 8th, the service order for the start of works on the first Radiotherapy Center in Amapá. The patient, who was previously forced to leave the state to seek the service, will be able to undergo treatment close to the family to try to cure and alleviate the symptoms of the disease.
“It is a historic moment to start work on the first radiotherapy center in Amapá. Only two states in Brazil do not have radiotherapy treatment: Amapá and Roraima. And Amapá is the last to join a federal government program to have its own centre. This is one of the greatest demands of PDT, as cancer patients need to travel to other states in search of radiotherapy”said the governor Clecio Louis.
The unit will have high-tech equipment, produced in the Silicon Valley, in the United States, and will receive approximately R$ 16.3 million in investments, as a result of articulation by the senator David Alcolumbre.
“It was something we wanted, the person to leave radiotherapy and go home. This is a big gain for the state, and it will become a reality within 12 months.”celebrated the Secretary of Health of Amapá, Silvana Vedovelli.
The Radiotherapy Center will be connected to Hospital de Clínicas Dr. Alberto Lima (Hcal), which maintains the High Complexity Oncology Unit (Unacon) with clinical care, surgery and chemotherapy. The Center will be built in the north zone of Macapá, in the Infraero 2 neighborhood, in an area close to the Love Hospital.
