Amapá employs a new management model in politics and goes in the opposite direction of many states in Brazil, where it is still noted that positions of trust in the gear of state secretariats concentrate, in the majority, men.
A survey by Folha de São Paulo points out that the new governments of the 26 states and the Federal District will have, on average, 28% of top-level positions occupied by women – in Amapá, this percentage exceeds 37%. In all, 23 of the 63 technical and secretarial positions, which can define the design of public policies, are occupied by women.
In the rest of Brazil, only 10 other states will have women’s participation above 30% in state management. Case of the Northeast region, that of the 9 states that compose it, only Paraíba did not reach this parity. Rio Grande do Sul and the Federal District also continue to have a percentage above 30%.
Today, as governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís, says that having female participation at the head of public bodies is a hallmark of his management since the time he was mayor of Macapá.
For the Governor, increasing the female presence in the top echelon of the Government is a way of consecrating the work of so many other women who exercise professions and positions with mastery for the development of the state.
“We are in this search and in this motivation, so that more and more women assume positions and spaces of power. I consider it fundamental to assemble a team with parity to design public policies that serve the population as a whole”, stressed Clécio Luís.

In charge of the Department of Health (Sesa), is the nurse Silvana Vedovelli. The manager was once Macapá’s secretary of health and coordinator of the fight against covid-19 in the capital.
At the State Department of Education (Seed), there is pedagogue Sandra Casimiro. She has served as Secretary of Education and as coordinator of the Municipal Education Plan of Macapá.
