In an exclusive interview with the program ‘LuizMeloInterview’ (Diário FM 90.9) this Wednesday, 3rd, the economist and vice-governor of Amapá, Teles Junior, reported that between January and November 2023 the state generated 6,319 formal jobs. “It is a robust number, the second highest in the series, and is 8.8% higher than the reference employment stock at the end of the year”said the deputy manager.

Teles reported that the national average was 4.51% and Amapá closed the year with 8.8% growth in formal supply. Regarding temporary jobs in the December period, the balance is expected to be delivered at the end of January this year. “We are not counting this value, this is a number that could be consolidated well above”said Teles.

Regarding Amapá’s employment stock, which has 82 thousand formal jobs, Teles declared that employment in industry and agriculture corresponds to 8%. Regarding data from 2023, the 6,319 jobs created have a difference: industry and agriculture jumped to almost 20%, which shows a change in the employment profile.

For Teles, the numbers also show the economy’s diversification bias. “Jobs in agriculture and industry grew above average and at a much higher rate than was the state standard; The energy sector and forestry production are sectors that are beginning to have much greater dynamism, jobs in these sectors have stood out”reported.

“There is a dynamic growth of the private sector, which is very important, and Governor Clécio has defended this. The state needs a market, we need a more dynamic economy so that we can finance the government’s own activities more intensively”said Teles.

The deputy said that today 46% of the Amapá economy is dependent on government activities, and that it is necessary to generate activities from the private sector to increase the dynamism in the generation of employment and income and, consequently, in social advancement, especially for people who are below the poverty line.

Regarding event tourism, which is the flow of visitors to events and festivities, Teles said that during Expofeira the largest hotel occupation activity in the history of Amapá was recorded, which also affected the gastronomic and transport sectors, “economy multiplier effects”celebrated Teles.

“Very intense event tourism also ends up stimulating the emergence of some business through some economic agent in the state. In 2021 there was the National Meeting of Civil Construction Companies, four businessmen who came to the event settled in the state and today they are here generating jobs and income for the population”concluded the vice-governor.
