Amapá breaks record and wins 84 medals in the School Paralympics – News of Brazil

Once again Amapá continues to show strength in parasports in local and national competitions. The delegation from Amapá participated between the 9th and 11th of August in the School Paralympics, in Belém (PA), and won 74 medals, surpassing the previous record of 70 podiums in 2022.
In all, there were 46 golds, 25 silvers and 13 bronzes. The delegation from Amapá that participated in the competition consisted of 70 people, 40 of which were para-athletes and the other 30 were part of the technical committee. There were athletics, swimming and bowling events.
The competition gathered around 500 athletes from 10 states: Pará, Ceará, Maranhão, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Sergipe, Alagoas and Amapá.
There will be three regional phases in Belém, Brasília and São Paulo, between the months of August and September. For the regionals, the modalities that have a large number of subscribers in the national phase were selected. The top three in athletics and swimming regionals automatically qualify for the National Phase, in São Paulo, also at the Paralympic Training Center, from November 27th to December 2nd. In boules, the first two, by gender, win the spot.
The School Paralympics are idealized and organized by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and had their first edition in 2009.
