Alckmin appoints former adviser to Weintraub and Milton Ribeiro – 02/03/2023 – Politics

Former chief of staff at the Ministry of Education in the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, public servant Djaci Vieira de Sousa was appointed on Friday (27) to the position of special advisor to Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) at the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.

Djaci held the same role at MEC from May 2019 to January 2, 2023. He served at the top of the tenures of Abraham Weintraub, Milton Ribeiro and Victor Godoy Vieira.

Djaci’s appointment as Alckmin’s assistant was published in the Official Gazette.

In a note, the advisory department led by the vice president said that the server was chosen because he had a “technical profile and vast professional background”. “Accumulated over almost 30 years of his work as a public servant.”

Graduated in law, he has been a civil servant for the federal government since 1995. He held positions of trust in Planning during PT administrations.

At the MEC under Bolsonaro, he was chief of staff, a position that closely follows the agenda of ministers. He came to replace the Minister of Education.

Djaci was heard by the CGU (Comptroller General of the Union) in 2022 about complaints of irregularities in the MEC involving the performance of pastors Gilmar Santos and Arilton Moura.

The case led to the downfall of Milton Ribeiro after the Sheet reveal audio in which the then minister claimed to prioritize, at Bolsonaro’s request, requests for the release of funds to city halls that were mediated by the pastors.

Djaci told CGU that he had been informed by Milton about the sale of a car between family members of the then minister and Pastor Arilton.

The server also acted in Weintraub management. The minister was fired by Bolsonaro in June 2020 as a result of long political wear with the ministers of the STF (Federal Supreme Court).

At a ministerial meeting in April 2020, for example, Weintraub stated that, if it were up to him, he would put “all these bums in jail, starting with the STF”.

Weintraub’s passage through the MEC was marked by controversies and stalled projects, with the government’s defeats in Congress, lack of dialogue with education networks and lack of leadership in the direction of policies in the area.

He arrived at the ministry at the behest of the ideological wing of the government and often hurled insults at the most varied targets: from educator Paulo Freire (1921-1997) to China.

In a note, the ministry led by Alckmin said that the server will carry out technical-administrative analyses.

“In this term, he resumes his previous occupation, now at the Ministry of Development of Industry, Commerce and Services, to, once again, carry out technical-administrative analyzes in the processes submitted to the evaluation and final decision of the Minister and Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, in support of the decisions and proposals that will be processed in the interest of the current mandate of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and of Brazilian society.”

The folder also stated that this is not the first time that Djaci will act “in positions of relevance” in the Lula government.

“Due to his extensive experience, exemplary conduct and professionalism, he was invited to actively participate in work and achievements during the administrations and mandates of presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Dilma Rousseff and Michel Temer.”
