Brasilia DF) – The increase in the value of water transport tickets harms the population of Amazonas, who use the rivers as their roads every day. For this reason, federal deputy Captain Alberto Neto presented a recommendation to the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, for the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) to intensify supervision over the values ​​practiced in this means of transport in the state.

“At the Privatized Port of Manaus, the cheapest ticket costs R$120, and the ticket with the highest cost is around R$425, going to the cities of Tabatinga and Benjamin Constante, located in the Amazonas border region. with Peru and Colombia”,

he said.

Document n.1449/23 clarifies that from the Port of Manaus, 53 vessels operate on 28 lines/destinations, serving locations in the Upper, Middle and Lower Solimões channels; and Middle and Lower Amazons. And the capital is home to the second largest national port for transporting cabotage containers, playing a fundamental role in the economy of the northern region of the country.

According to the parliamentarian, the proposal is that Antaq, being a special Brazilian agency with administrative and functional autonomy, linked to the Ministry of Transport, intensifies monitoring with maximum urgency of increases in the value of waterway tickets in Amazonas.

“We await action from the Ministry of Transport, in efforts and speed to support inspections, thus minimizing extortion with abusive increases for the population affected by the drought in the interior of Amazonas”,

said Captain Alberto Neto.
