The Advocacy General of the Union (AGU) asked this Wednesday (1st), the Federal Court of the Federal District, the final conviction of over 40 people arrested for alleged involvement in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília, on the 8th. of January.

According to the AGU, the suspects already have their assets blocked to compensate the public coffers for damages to assets estimated at R$ 20.7 million. The value, he says, “reputes material damage already incontrovertible, without prejudice to, in the course of procedural instruction, new elements of evidence being produced demonstrating even greater damage to public property”.

In the request made to the Justice of the DF, the AGU states that they were arrested in flagrante delicto as responsible for acts of vandalism to the buildings of the National Congress, the Planalto Palace and the Federal Supreme Court.

“It is clear, therefore, that the defendants, of their own free will and consciously, actively participated in unlawful acts which, more than material damage to the federal public property that is the object of this action, resulted in damage to the democratic order itself and to the Brazilian image”, says in a note.

This Wednesday’s (1st) request is the fourth made by the AGU against those suspected of involvement in the acts. As a result, 124 people had the final conviction requested by the agency.
