Against low return, automakers target fleet management – 05/05/2023 – Panel SA

To try to get out of the quagmire that the national automobile market has become, American automakers decided to step deep into the fleet management segment. The idea is to compensate with this business the insistent drop in the profitability of vehicle sales.
This week, GM Fleet, General Motors’ outsourced fleet management arm, arrives in the country. It will compete with the Ford Pro.
Last year, this branch of activity recorded gross revenues of R$ 36 billion, according to Abla (an association that represents car rental companies).
Just over 20% of rental companies adopt the fleet rental option.
Hiring plans are divided into two axes: fleet managers and drivers.
In the first case, GM Fleet offers consultancy to companies that are interested in supplying cars to executives. It also manages documentation, fines and infractions, in addition to a platform for managing the vehicles supplied.
For individual drivers, the goal is to build customer loyalty and compete for space with industry giants such as Localiza. In both plans, more than 500 Chevrolet dealerships will be available for customer service.
“GM Fleet arrived in Brazil to innovate, bringing the connectivity and safety of Chevrolet cars. With specialized professionals, we take care of the entire fleet management, so that the customer can focus on their business”, said in a note Maximiliano Fernandes, executive responsible by GM Fleet in Brazil.
