After years of studying, young man from Caruaru takes 1st place in Medicine at UFPE: ‘Indescribable feeling’

Having studied and prepared for the selection process for years, the student barely managed to pass in 2023, but she didn’t give up on her dream. Maria Kamyla completed the integrated technical course in Occupational Safety at the Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE). It was during the course that she fell in love with the subject of Pre-Hospital Care. “We had the possibility of caring for and improving people’s quality of life, that enchanted me,” said the student. After completing the course, in mid-2021, Maria continued studying in preparation for the Enem exams. She had the help of teachers from preparatory writing and literature courses, she also studied through digital platforms and did simulations. Last year, Maria Kamyla came in third place on the waiting list for the Medicine course at UFPE in Caruaru. However, only one person on the list entered the vacancy and the student was left out. She then began further preparation for the following year’s tests, which, in addition to her studies, included psychological support. “I believe that one of the main factors that helped my growth was changing the way I viewed Enem, not as an enemy but as a door to achieving my dream”, stated Maria Kamyla. The Sisu result was published last Wednesday (31). The first name on the list was, for Maria Kamyla, the reward for the effort of so many years studying and preparing. “All of this is an indescribable feeling, seeing all your effort and dedication finally being rewarded is very special,” she said. Maria Kamyla was approved first in Medicine in the regular Sisu Reproduction/Sisu call. The help of those who were close to her during the years of preparation was fundamental. The student said that she had the help of teachers and also family and friends who were nearby cheering for approval. “I was always encouraged by my parents and my brother to follow my dream, whatever it was, they believed in me more than I believed in myself, so this achievement is not just mine, but theirs too, who always gave their all to make achieve my dream”, said Maria Kamyla. Looking back over the past years, I realize that it was a process of personal and academic development that led me to this long-awaited achievement. Last year I was third on the waiting list, but only one spot opened, and I realized that I was very close to realizing my dream. So in the year 2023 I dedicated myself to observing my difficulties and working on them.
