After wear and tear, Tarcísio will grant benefits to teachers – 08/17/2023 – Education

After wearing out with teachers, the management Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) announced this Thursday (17) that it will send a bill to Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo) to return two benefits to the category.
Since the beginning of the government, teachers have demanded changes in the format of missing classes and that they can carry out APDs (diversified pedagogical activities), which are extra-class activities (such as correction of tests or preparation of classes) in a different location from the school in that work.
They had lost these benefits during the João Doria government and, since the beginning of the year, they had asked the secretary of education, Renato Feder, to submit a new bill to review the change.
According to the Department of Education, Feder signed a commitment that he would review these issues, on July 20, during a meeting at Alesp’s Education Commission.
Under the current rule, professors must carry out APDs exclusively in the unit where they teach. With the change in legislation, these teachers may, in accordance with the regulations of the Secretary of Education, be authorized to carry out activities such as preparing classes and correcting tests and the like at home or at another school where they may eventually teach, such as occurred in the old race.
“Teachers must be free to choose how they want to prepare their classes and the best time to do it. Nor can we harm a teacher who is working every day and who, for some reason, needs to be away for just an hour, for example”, said Renato Feder, in a note released by the secretariat.
With regard to missing classes, the proposal is for the teacher to have a discount only for classes that he does not attend and not for the whole day, as is currently the case.
Under the current rule, if a teacher has seven classes a day and misses just one, he or she misses all of them.
All these changes need to be approved by Alesp.
