The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) suspended the commercialization, manufacture, import, advertising and use of male condoms Blotex Zero and Blotex Sensitive Super Aloe Vera. The decision was published on Wednesday (23) in the Official diary.

According to Anvisa, batches of products failed in the burst tests after three years, which makes it impossible to maintain their validity for up to five years. The holder of the records has already started field actions to collect the lots.

By means of a note published by the Brazil Agency, the Blowtex Ltd Latex artifact factory confirmed that the batches were initially produced with a shelf life of five years, but that recent laboratory tests indicated that there may be a greater risk of rupture after three years. “With any condom, if it breaks, you should take extra precautions to reduce the chance of pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections,” the company warns.
