After a year, women and children repeat party at Ligga Arena

A year later, the Athletico once again received an audience of only women, children and people with disabilities at the Ligga Arena. And again it was a show in the stands. In the field, on the other hand, the Furacão only drew 1-1 with Maringáfor the third round of Paranaense.

Expectations were high for many fans and young fans hours before the match. There were already queues at all entrances before 4:30 pm. The rain in Curitiba got in the way, but it didn’t discourage the fans, especially those who were going to the stadium for their turn.

I’ve always watched football on television and I’m very happy to be able to come with my family and be an all-female audience,” said the athlete.

In total, they were 34,356 fans who watched the red and black debut as home team in the season that marks the club’s centenary. This was the second best attendance among restricted players since last year, behind the duel against Maringá itself in 2023 (32,031) and ahead of the game against Foz do Iguaçu (37,197). The measure was a punishment due to the fight at Atletiba in 2023.

Among those present was also the young man David Lucca, 10 years old, who carried a poster asking for a shirt for the players. “It’s my birthday, I really wanted a shirt, from any player. I always come when I can with my cousin, who is a member. But today I was able to come with my mother”, he said, accompanied by his mother Luana Miguel.

As soon as the ball rolled, nothing could be heard in the Arena other than deafening female screams. The team did little to help in the first half, falling behind on the scoreboard and performing below expectations. Even so, only shouts of support came from the seats. The boos and insults were only for Maringá and the match referee.

In the second half, the screams, which were already loud, intensified in an attempt to help the team on the field. And it worked in the 17th minute. After Madson’s cross, defender Mateo Gamarra sent it into the net and made the whole stadium celebrate. The chants of “Athletico, Athletico” continued strong in an attempt to make Furacão look for a comeback. And that was all that was needed for the party to be complete.

At the final whistle, applause for the team and an invasion by a fan, who was contained by security guards. In the next round, Athletico will face Galo Maringá, Saturday (27), at 6:30 pm, again at home and will have the chance to deliver a better result for the fans.

“Last year, I had a big belly and Bernardo helped. Now, my son is about to turn one, on January 30th, and he will be with me at the stadium. I know that I cannot project my expectations as a fan onto my son, because he can grow up and take different directions, have different passions, but I try to show a little of this world we live in”, he said

“I always take him to the Arena, he’s been to an away game too. If he likes this world, I hope he’ll also be as athletic or even more athletic than I am. He’s already our little mascot, much loved and already super athletic, but Let’s see if over the years this athleticism will remain”, he added.
