A “Quadrilha” of requited love

Journalist Gil Rocha died. Unlike Drummond’s “Quadrilha”, in which the love between João, Tereza, Raimundo, Maria, Joaquim and Lili was perennial and simulated, in Gil Rocha’s “Quadrilha” the love was pure and sincere because Gil loved Ana, who loves Lucas, who loves Pedro who loves João. His “Quadrilha” is united by reciprocated passions.

Here is the great virtue of Gil Rocha as a journalist: against all principles of journalism, he was discreet. Out of humility he always had the respect of the source, and out of that virtue he always had a whole fact. As an anchor or as a reporter, his conciliatory tone didn’t prevent the much-needed polemic in football debates. He had one wing for Londrina, another for the thighs, but he cried with his children over the life that Paraná it’s passing.

Now, suddenly, for not having made a coexistence agreement with time, dear Gil, just 63 years old, left. But, perhaps, if the suddenness were not improbable, Fernando Pessoa would have reason for Gil’s death: “To live itself is to die, because we don’t have a day more in our life that we don’t have, in that, a day less in it” .
