Amazonense wins gold and breaks record at the Brazil Athletics Trophy

Athlete of javelin throw, highlighted in the sports scenario, maintains the first place in the national and South American ranking
The Amazonian athlete Pedro Henrique Nunes won first place in the Brazil Athletics Trophy, in Mato Grosso, on Sunday (9). In the competition, the athlete reached the mark of 82.77 meters.
“We are very happy with the excellent results that Pedro Nunes has achieved, yet another record that enhances our expectation of seeing Amazonas well represented in major competitions and in the next Olympics. Governor Wilson Lima’s determination is for us to always be providing the necessary support to our athletes”, said Jorge Oliveira, secretary of the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel).
At the age of 24, Pedro Nunes set a new Brazilian record in the javelin throw, at the Troféu Brasil de Atletismo. “I’m very happy with this achievement, I’m still focused on my goals, in two and a half weeks I have the South American Championship. Now it’s time to set goals and stamp my spot at the Worlds and, subsequently, reach the index for the Olympics in Paris”, said Pedro Henrique.
After this memorable victory, Pedro Nunes is getting ready for his next challenge, the South American Athletics Championship, to be held from July 28th to 30th, at the Centro Olímpico de Training and Research, in São Paulo. Focused on making a great score in the competition, the athlete aims to reach the final, ensure his participation in the Budapest World Cup and represent Brazil at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
Pedro Nunes has established himself as one of the most promising athletes in the current Brazilian scenario. His recent record breaking with a personal mark of 83.89 meters, at the Brazilian Grand Prix (GP Brasil), places him in first place in the national and South American rankings that demonstrate his potential in reaching the necessary index for a vacancy for the 2024 Olympics, which is 1.61 meters from the score.
