Senate approves salary bonus of up to 30% for TCU employees

The Senate approved this Wednesday (6) a bill that provides for the payment of additional specialization and qualification for employees of the Federal Audit Court (TCU). The bonus will be up to 30%, depending on the courses taken by the employees. PL 6,232/2023, which originated in the Chamber of Deputies, goes to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for sanction.

The text was approved in a symbolic vote, with senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) expressing the only vote against. The project guarantees TCU employees a salary increase – of up to 30% on the basic salary – for completing undergraduate, specialization, master’s and doctorate courses, in addition to certifications and training actions.

The areas and themes of interest of the trainings must be determined by the court, informed the Senate Agency. The proposal, reported by senator Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO), was approved by the Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) this Monday (5).

Additional remuneration, depending on each degree, will be: 15% for doctorates (maximum one course); 10% for master’s degrees (maximum two courses); 8% for post-doctoral work or international training recognized by TCU (maximum, one action); 6% for lato sensu postgraduate courses, at specialization level (maximum three courses); 5% for graduation (at most, one course beyond that required for entry into the position); 2% for obtaining professional certification (maximum five certifications); and 0.5% for the set of training actions offered or recognized by the court (maximum, one action per year and 12 in total).

The text determines that specialization premiums must be included in retirement and pension payments. For employees who have already retired, the bonus is granted for courses taken during their position, with the exception of professional certifications and training actions, which should not be counted.
