99 launches, this Tuesday (9), the option for passengers and drivers in the city of São Paulo to negotiate the value of rides made on the app. On the same date, the cities of Teresina, Maceió, Joinville and São José do Rio Preto will also debut the service.

Called 99Negocia, the functionality allows passengers to make a value proposition for the trip. Upon receiving the request, the driver evaluates the destination information and, if desired, can make a counter-offer to the passenger.

If there is no agreement, the race will not take place and another app car may be requested. As prices are negotiated before the trip is confirmed, changes to the route or deviations from the route are not permitted.

The service accepts payments via Pix, cash, credit card, debit card or 99 digital wallet balance, and does not apply to the 99Moto, 99Plus or taxi categories.

To encourage adoption of the category among drivers in the capital of São Paulo, 99 will reduce the percentage charged for races in the modality to 0.99%.

Leonardo Japur, director of strategy and new categories at 99, states that the service is a way to complement race coverage in the sport with prices defined by the application.

“It’s a way that we see to favor this model, the promotional rate to promote experimentation in the category and with adjustments to keep the model sustainable and functioning in the long term.”

The 99Negocia category is now available in other capitals, including Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia and Brasília, and in other cities in São Paulo, such as Campinas, Santos, São José dos Campos and Ribeirão Preto.

HOW TO REQUEST 99NEGOCIA

  • The passenger must normally access the 99 app and enter the destination address
  • Then, 99Negocia will appear among the available options with a suggested value
  • Passengers are currently allowed to change the price if they wish to make a different offer.
  • After confirmation, the driver is notified and can make a counter-offer
  • If there is no agreement, the passenger can request another vehicle
