65th Amazonas Folk Festival Gold Category hosts the first show of the band Fulô de Mandacaru in Manaus, this Friday (07/14)

Manaus (AM) – Consolidated as one of the biggest manifestations of popular culture in the state, the Folk Festival of Amazonas Category Gold, arrives in its 65th edition with opening this Friday (14/07), at 20h, in the Centro Cultural Povos da Amazônia, in Bola da Suframa, on Avenida Silves, Industrial District, south of Manaus. Folk dances and the band from Pernambuco, Fulô de Mandacaru, kick off the season of the richest and most plural folklore in the Amazon. Entry is free.

The festival, which is promoted by the State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, in partnership with the City Hall of Manaus, expresses the cultural diversity that the Amazon contemplates.

“It is gratifying to follow, at each edition, the commitment of folklore groups and communities to bring great shows to the competitive show. The festival brings the cultural identity of Amazonas, the folkloric tradition passed from generation to generation”,

emphasizes the Secretary of Culture, Marcos Apolo Muniz.

To open the June season of the Gold Category, starting at 8 pm, six folklore groups will perform, which became champions in 2022: Ciranda Rosas de Ouro; Quadrilha Alternativa Funk na Roça; Traditional Caipira Quadrilha in Roça; National Dance Café XV de Outubro; Kashmir International Dance; Comic strip As Poderosas na Roça.

The opening party continues with Banda Fulô from Mandacaru taking the stage at 10:15 pm, bringing authentic northeastern music, strolling through various forró styles.

The band

Owner of its own style, the band formed by Armandinho do Acordeon, Pingo Barros and Tiago Muriê, has accumulated a 22-year career, which began at the biggest June festival in the world, São João de Caruaru, in Pernambuco.

In luggage, 12 CDs and 7 DVDs recorded and a schedule of concerts throughout the national territory. In August, Fulô de Mandacaru goes on its seventh international tour, taking forró to the four corners of the world, performing in countries like Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, among others.

Another moment of repercussion was in 2016, when the band won the title of champion of the Superstar program, scoring hits in all media.

Fulô has already drawn crowds in the “Galo da Madrugada” Block, in the eclectic trio that has been participating for four years. At Carnival in Salvador, the band performed in the cabins and in Pelourinho. This year, the musicians will command the electric trio in the Barra-Ondina circuit, in the Bloco dos Vaqueiros.

“It’s the first time we’ll be in Manaus and I’m sure the people will love it. It is an honor to open the 65th Folk Festival of Amazonas, something so enriching for culture”,

said Tiago Muriê, adding that the audience can expect a repertoire of forró hits.

“Our show is very special because we take what forró has to offer at its best, which is its genre, rhythm, joy and we make a historical cut, from Luiz Gonzaga, through the northeastern trio, to the successes of the band Mastruz with Leite and, of course, the hits of the band Fulô de Mandacaru cannot be missing”. He continues: “We have pyrotechnics, technology and we involve the audience, which is part of the show. I am sure that the people of Amazonas will love it”,

On Saturday (15/07) the presentations of the 65th Folkloric Festival of Amazonas Gold Category begin. Therefore, the public will have the opportunity to participate in a 14-day party of presentations.

From the 15th to the 29th of July, the Povos da Amazônia Cultural Center receives 64 folk groups, in the modalities: Northeastern Dance, Traditional Garrote, Regional Garrote, Duel Quadrilha, Cacetinho, Regional Dance, Traditional Quadrilha, Tribe, International Dance, Ciranda, Dance National, Alternative Quadrilha and Comic Quadrilha.

On the 28th and 29th of July, the performances are by the oxen bumbás from Manaus, at the Sambódromo, in the Master B modality, O Clamor de um Povo, Tira Prosa and Brilhante. On the 29th, in the Master A modality, the bulls Galante de Manaus, Corre Campo and Garanhão will perform.
