Manaus (AM) – The City Hall of Manaus reopened, on Sunday (30), the Jorge Teixeira food court and amphitheater, located on Rua Lírios, Jorge Teixeira neighborhood, east zone.

The square was reopened in grand style, hosting the 2nd warm-up of “#SouManaus Passo a Paço 2023”, which brought together local attractions, such as artists Guto Lima, Maykinho, Oz Bebes and clown Lero Lero.

The deputy mayor and chief secretary of the Civil House, Marcos Rotta, was present at the site and reinforced the importance of the changes that the management of Mayor David Almeida has been carrying out. “Mayor David has managed to transform the city on several fronts. The Jorge Teixeira square is yet another example of this hard work and commitment, and all that, together with the biggest event that is ‘#SouManaus’. The city is experiencing a new era of transformation. We are here celebrating the re-inauguration of the square and kicking off the festival that, without a doubt, will mark the cultural history of Manaus”, highlighted the deputy mayor.

Rotta got to know the new structure of the square and delivered the badges to the permit holders, as a symbolic way of making them official as servants of the Manaus City Hall, for their important role in providing services to the Manaus population.

The revitalization of Jorge Teixeira square includes new painting, renovations of the eight boxes, new roof, renovation of the stage, public lighting, internal and external structures, cleaning and expansion of the bathrooms with access to People with Disabilities (PcDs), in addition to improvements of space in general.

For permission holder Maria Elange, 54 years old, the revitalization of the square is a reason for happiness, as it will improve working conditions. “I’ve been working here since 2018 and I’ve been waiting for this transformation that finally happened, with the mayor’s new management, which makes our work much better, since previously the place had no structure to work with food, in addition to the bathrooms being decadent , poor lighting, which decreases security. With this refurbishment, everything has improved, I am happy, because it will certainly attract more people and customers”, commented the entrepreneur.
