Argentina and Paraguay will host first round matches
The 2030 World Cup will have an unprecedented format being divided into two continents with games in six countries with the opening game in Montevideo, Uruguay, as a tribute to the first edition of the World Cup, played in 1930.
The first round games will take place in Argentina and Paraguay. From then on, the remaining matches of the World Cup will be in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
The decision was taken this Wednesday (4), by the FIFA Council (International Football Federation), and announced in a press conference by the president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez.

“There is no stadium more important for world football than the Centenário stadium. The opening game has to be there,” said Domínguez.
In a statement published on the FIFA website, the entity’s president, Gianni Infantino, stated that the 2030 World Cup means “a great message of peace, tolerance and inclusion”.
