Last weekend, the 2023 Interneighborhood Football Championship began, considered one of the main amateur football competitions in the municipality, promoted by the Municipality of Santana.
The opening, which took place on the field of the Associação Esportiva e Recreativa Paraíso (Aerpa), was marked by a presentation parade of the participating teams. The teams that attended the event came out ahead and earned a point on the leaderboard. The current champion team is Ilha de Santana, which promises to seek the second championship.
Interbairros will have the participation of 24 teams, promising strong emotions. “We are going to look for that title again. We know we will have strong opponents, but our team is ready for this championship”, said Tiago Merendinha, athlete from Ilha de Santana.
The competition is organized by the Extraordinary Municipal Secretariat for Sports and Leisure, which considers that the tournament contributes to the identification of new talents in amateur football in the municipality.
“This competition attracts and moves the city’s neighborhoods, involving players and fans who follow their teams in games. We hope that the technical level will be excellent again this year”, said Biraga Rocha, Secretary of Sports, Sports and Leisure.
The acting mayor, Isabel Nogueira, pointed out that the municipality has talent spread across all neighborhoods and emphasized that, in addition to encouraging the discovery of new talent, the championship promotes fellowship and a competitive spirit.
“Sport is health, leisure and companionship. Here we also encourage healthy competition between teams. It is very gratifying to see the public brightening the opening and I am sure that, from here, many promises will emerge for football in Santana”, he said.
In the opening game, Ilha de Santana beat Remédios I by 4 to 3. The competition will continue next weekend, with matches scheduled for Estádio Augusto Antunes.
