Manaus (AM) – The director of institutional relations at Yamaha Motor da Amazônia LTDA., Helio Ninomiya, and the manager of institutional relations, Afonso Cagnino, announced, this Wednesday (18), through a circular that the company will reduce its production, through scheduled stops during the month of October, due to the lack of availability of inputs, due to the drought that affects the Amazon.

“As is public knowledge, the situation of the rivers in the Amazon Basin remains critical, with temporary restrictions on the entry of ships. Given this scenario, we inform you that we will have a direct impact on production, with scheduled shutdowns during the month of October, to adapt to the availability of inputs. We continue to work to minimize the effects of the drought, implementing alternative measures to make it possible to serve the dealer network and our consumers”,

informed the administrative circular released by the company.

The information came after the announcement by the board of directors of Samsung Eletrônica da Amazônia Ltda. communicate the anticipation of collective vacations at the end of the year, for part of the employees who work in production, specifically in the TV, audio and air conditioning lines.

The anticipation is scheduled for the period from October 30th to November 14th and will occur due to the record low water in the rivers, which prevents the arrival of essential inputs for the factory’s production.

Samsung was the first company to officially inform that it will bring forward collective vacations for some of its employees. According to the vice-president of the factory in Manaus, Woo Yong Lee, approximately 1,500 employees will receive early collective vacations.

“Due to the lack of inputs, there will be no production activity on the aforementioned lines. Therefore, it is expected that at the end of the year, when the river level is higher, these lines will once again be supplied with inputs, and employees will be able to resume production activities”,

justified Lee.

The president of the Metalworkers Union of Amazonas (Sindmetal-AM), Valdemir Santana, informed that approximately 15 thousand workers will go on collective vacation due to the severe drought affecting Amazonas.

Statistics indicate that approximately 35 companies from the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) will adhere to the measure. According to an expert, the measure can preserve jobs, but should impact the Amazonian economy.

The Rio Negro reached a level of 13.49 meters, this Tuesday (17), the lowest level since counting began in the Port of Manaus, in 1902. According to the Routing and Monitoring Management (GEA), the trend is that the volume of the rivers will continue to decrease until the end of this month.
