With Lula in Rio, nurses take action for salary floor – 02/06/2023 – Panel SA

Nurses gathered at an event in Rio de Janeiro this Monday (6th) to demand the implementation of the new nursing floor.

The demonstration took place in Benfica, a neighborhood in the north of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, where President Lula participated in the inauguration ceremony of units of the Super Centro Carioca de Saúde complex, with the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, and the governor of the state, Cláudio Castro .

The act was organized by union entities of the category, such as the National Nursing Forum and Sindenfrj (Union of Nurses of the State of Rio de Janeiro).

Líbia Bellusci, union leader of the category, says that the nurses tried to make contact with Lula to discuss the floor, but they were not attended to.

When questioned, the president’s advisory said it had not registered a request for contact with Lula.

Sanctioned by Bolsonaro in August and suspended by the STF the following month, the new national nursing floor generated confusion in the sector.

The law did not indicate the cost of wages, which provoked a reaction from employers against the minimum wage. The case is under analysis at the STF, but Congress enacted, in December, a PEC that unlocked public funds to pay for public hospitals and SUS care networks.

Now, the nurses demand the edition of a provisional measure that determines how the resources will reach the hospitals.

A base text report for the MP was prepared by a working group of the Ministry of Health composed of representatives of the secretariats of the portfolio, legal consultancy, Conass (National Council of Health Secretaries), Conasems (National Council of Municipal Health Secretaries ) and the National Nursing Forum.

The ministry told Panel SA this Monday that the report is still being analyzed by the folder, which should publish a note on the subject in the coming days.
