WEG Amazônia announces R$ 48 million in investments in the Industrial Pole of Manaus

The company announced that it will allocate BRL 48 million over the next three years
Manaus (AM) – Accompanied by a technical team, the superintendent of Suframa, Bosco Saraiva, visited on Tuesday (11), the manufacturing unit of WEG Amazônia, located in the neighborhood of Coroado, East Zone of Manaus. During the visit, the company announced that it will allocate R$ 48 million over the next three years to expanding production capacity and adapting the unit to produce a new line of permanent magnet electric motors for split-type air conditioners.
WEG’s factory in Manaus currently has 5.2 thousand square meters of built area and has a production capacity of approximately 3.5 million electric motors per year. After the investments, the unit will increase its workforce in the region by 25%.
Suframa’s superintendent highlighted the relevance of the investments planned by the company. “It is a demonstration that the productive sector continues to evaluate the ‘World Free Zone’ as an adequate and safe area to contribute new investments”, evaluated Saraiva.
The superintendent director of Commercial Motors and Appliance at WEG, Júlio Cesar Ramires, explained that the investment in the Manaus plant will enable the production of a line of highly efficient variable speed motors, in line with the new technologies that the company already produces for other applications in the Brazil and abroad.
“This investment marks an important advance for the air conditioning segment in Brazil, bringing an evolution to air conditioning devices used in homes, offices and commercial spaces. We will also contribute significantly to meeting the growing levels of energy efficiency established for split air conditioners in the coming years in Brazil”,

The Deputy Executive Superintendent, Luiz Frederico Aguiar, also participated in the visit, representing Suframa; the General Coordinator for Monitoring Industrial Projects, Yêda Aquino Sousa; the special adviser of the Adjunct Superintendence of Development and Technological Innovation of Suframa (SDI), Leopoldo Montenegro; and the coordinator of Social Communication and Institutional Affairs, Isaac Júnior. The team was received by the manager of Weg Amazônia, Oscar Luís Chewinski, and by the general manager of the organization in the region, Eduardo Hummes.
