Valuation actions and heritage education are discussed during the Historical and Cultural Heritage Week

More than 300 participants joined the free activities of the five-day agenda in the cultural spaces of the state

Manaus (AM) – A visit to the greatest cultural heritage in Amazonas was the final point of an agenda of activities dedicated to valuing the material and immaterial goods that the state reserves. On Tuesday (22/08), Teatro Amazonas received and welcomed the participants of the Historical and Cultural Heritage Week, promoted by the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy. The hall, the audience and the main hall of the theater were objects of study for the group that followed, attentive to every detail. Then, the closure of the event extended to the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center, with representatives of the bodies involved and the general public.

For five days, more than 300 people participated in workshops, lectures, mediated visits, conversation circles in various cultural spaces. The thematic week coordinated by the technical staff of the Department of Historic Heritage (DPH) of the Secretariat of Culture, in partnership with the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan), reinforced the importance of valuing historic buildings, works and elements that represent the cultural history of the state.

According to the executive secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Kaká Bonates, the programming for the week dedicated to heritage was positive and strengthened working relationships. “The meeting established strengthening partnerships between Iphan and the Secretariat of Culture that will contribute to the advancement of the study and promotion of historical and cultural heritage”,

“You have to understand that the Amazon has a very complex formation process. There are several identities, peoples and types of architecture. The State Government is increasingly strengthening this preservation, both in investment and in the appreciation of the professional”,

In the joint effort to value and preserve historical heritage, the superintendent of Iphan Amazonas, Beatriz Calheiro, highlighted the training aspect of the week. “We had a good heritage education class. We must not forget that knowledge formation processes add a lot to the job market, but also for each one to be proactive in the agenda, teachers of heritage and that they take to the communities. May everyone think about the challenge of doing much more in the metropolitan region and in the interior of the state”,

Training and accessibility

The architect Socorro Gouvêa, author of the base project for the Palacete Provincial Cultural Center, one of the State Government’s facilities, was one of the speakers in the program. For her, the public’s adherence reflects the search for the knowledge in question. “I was surprised by the demand from people, which is very good for the professional, seeing the number of people interested, with that love for heritage. I hope that next year it will be again”, comments Socorro.

For architect Rafael Queiroga, more important than valuing historical heritage is to follow the needs imposed by society in an inclusive way. “Within all platforms in the state, accessibility is a priority. In order to promote the inclusion of these spaces, it is essential to favor the line of thought and demand”, concludes the architect, who works in the framework of the State Secretariat for Infrastructure.
